Malir Expressway Project 10 December 2024 Meeting to review the progress of segmental completion of the Malir Expressway Project was held on December 10, 2024, at the Public-Private Partnership Unit. Representatives from the Local Government Department, Public-Private Partnership Unit, Concessionaire, and other stakeholders attended the meeting. Attendees had the chance to learn about a variety of programs, including: Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), Associate Degree in Education (ADE), Early Childhood Education (ECE), English Language Courses, Computer Courses, etc.This event was a significant step towards empowering the future of education by connecting education with opportunities.

SZABIST ZAB-ed recently hosted an insightful Open Day at the Government Elementary College of Education for Women, Mirpurkhas. Yellow Line BRT Bus Project

Yellow Line BRT Bus Project On May 8, 2024, the PPP Unit Sindh and the Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) hosted a meeting to discuss the “Supply and Operations of Buses for the Yellow Line BRT” project. The meeting included participation from transaction advisors from Exponent Engineer, Logit Consulting (Technical), EY (Financial), and Nawaz Hussain Sikandar, Akhund Forbes (Legal). The project involves a private operator who will finance, procure, supply, operate, and maintain various systems such as the bus fleet, Intelligent Transport System, fare collection, depot equipment, and provide related services for the Yellow Line BRT.
Carbon Emission Reduction Project

Carbon Emission Reduction Project The Government of Sindh (GoS) through Forest Department and with the assistance of PPP Unit Sindh, intends to undertake a mega project namely “Reduction of Carbon Emissions through Forestation Project” under PPP modality. Through this project, the forestation on approximately one hundred thousand (100,000/-) acres of riverine forest would be undertaken in Matiari and Jamshoro districts. In this regard, the Sindh Forest Department, supported by the PPP Unit Sindh, organized an orientation and discussion session on May 02, 2024, at PPP Unit office in collaboration with leading experts from EMC Pakistan, ECCIDE Consultancy, EY Ford Rhodes, and Haidermota & Co. being the GoS transaction advisors for this Project. The discussion revolved around potential of carbon credits, carbon credit markets and parameters for bankable carbon credit projects. Presently, feasibility study is under process and GoS is keen to explore alternate funding channels including potential of carbon credits to international carbon credit markets.

Sukker Water Distribution On April 24, 2024, Sukkur Municipal Corporation proudly partnered with a top-tier consortium led by Bridge Factor Private Ltd., including Techno-Consult International Pvt. Ltd., and the esteemed Farooq, Khan & Mirza (Advocates & Corporate Counsel). This collaboration marks a pivotal step towards revitalizing Sukkur’s water distribution system through a Public-Private Partnership. Following the consultancy services agreement signing, a dynamic kick-off meeting was held at the PPP Unit of the Finance Department. The gathering focused on crafting strategic solutions to enhance the city’s potable water supply. With unwavering support from Sukkur’s Mayor, the team is motivated to ensure swift and impactful progress on this crucial project.
Sindh’s USP Policy For PPPs

Sindh’s USP Policy For PPPs On May 23rd and 24th, 2024, the USAID Investment Promotion Activity (IPA) team actively engaged in a series of crucial events, including a Consultative Session & Focus Group Discussion, and meeting with PPP Unit Team. These sessions, which began at Mövenpick Hotel Karachi followed by a meeting at PPP Unit, Sindh, gathered key PPP stakeholders to finalize the draft policy titled “Framework for Development of Sindh’s USP Policy for PPPs.” The discussions involved an in-depth review of the Sindh PPP framework, incorporating international best practices for handling Unsolicited Proposals (USPs) in key areas such as, Submission and Screening, Evaluations, Project Development, and Procurement. These events represent a significant step toward the development and implementation of a comprehensive USP policy for PPPs in Sindh, highlighting a commitment to enhancing public-private collaborations that can drive sustainable development.
Sukker Water Project

Sukkur Water Project August 1, 2024: SMC and PPP Unit teams, headed by Mayor Sukkur and Director General PPP Unit respectively, conducted a detailed meeting with the transaction advisory team led by M/s Bridge Factor, together with Techno-Consult International and M/s Farooq Khan & Mirza. The advisory team presented its initial assessment report on the Sukkur Water Project and assured completion of the detailed assessment within the next 2-3 months. Concluding the meeting, the SMC team urged the advisory team to prioritize and expedite the remaining process in the public interest.
